What does a printer damper do?

A printer damper regulates ink flow and stabilises ink pressure between the ink line and the printhead, giving the head a consistent supply. Because it sits directly upstream of the head, a damper that has failed or trapped air commonly shows as ink starvation or inconsistent jetting.
