The most sophisticated part of the piezoelectric photo machine – the print head, presumably everyone is no stranger. The most common print heads on the market are Epson 5113 and Epson DX5, both of which are widely used in the inkjet industry. So do you know the difference between an Epson 5113 printhead and Epson DX5 printhead?
Differences between Epson 5113 Printheads and Epson DX5 Printheads
First of all, understand the basic parameters of the two print heads:
Printhead Type | 5113 Printhead | DX5 Printhead |
Printing Definition | 3200DPI | |
Ink Compatibility | water-based ink, thermal sublimation ink | water-based inks, oily inks and thermal sublimation inks |
Printing Speed | 4pass 20㎡/h | 4pass 18㎡/h |
Nozzle Number | 400×8 | 180×8 |
1. Number of Nozzles
Epson DX5 features integrated printhead with 8 rows of nozzles, a single row of 180 holes, a total of 1440 nozzles, and the minimum of 4PL. The nozzle arrangement of the Epson 5113 printhead is 400×8, which is much higher than the 180×8 of the traditional DX5.
2. Printhead Width
5113 printhead is 1.3 inch, which is 30% more width than traditional DX5 and DX7 printhead.
3. Speed
Because of more nozzles, the physical resolution is higher, so the machine equipped with 5113 printhead can achieve 4PASS high-speed printing, single printhead speed up to 20 square/hour.
4. Ink Compatibility
5113 printhead is suitable for water-based ink and thermal sublimation ink, but there is a point that needs special attention, 5113 printhead is not suitable for the use of weak solvent ink (that is, oily ink), and then it is not suitable for outdoor printing. On the other hand, the mainstream position of 5113 printhead in the field of indoor printing is unshakable. Epson DX5 applies a wide range of inks, including water-based inks, oily inks and thermal sublimation inks, so Epson DX5 printhead is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. If the customer’s order printing has both indoor advertising and indoor advertising, it is suggested that you can consider this printhead.
Whether it is Epson 5113 printhead or Epson DX5 printhead, both of them are the mainstream print head in the current market, both of which cover indoor printing and outdoor printing. In short, the 5113 printhead has high precision and amazing indoor printing effect. The DX5 printhead is universal indoors and outdoors, but the accuracy is slightly lower than 5113.
5. Printing Definition
5113 features a printing definition of 3200DPI, suitable for indoor printing with high picture clarity requirements.
Differences between Epson DX5 Printheads and Epson DX7 Printheads
1. Nozzle Arrangement
The surface of the DX5 has 8 rows of nozzles, 180 per row. The distance between each two rows of nozzles is equal and the distance between each 4 nozzles is different. The total number of nozzle is 1440. The DX7 printhead has 8 rows of nozzles, 180 per row, and the spacing of each row is equal.
2. Printing Speed
The speed of the DX7 is faster than the DX5. The DX7 is a new piezoelectric crystal with long life and strong adaptation to temperature. The DX5 can also be faster, but if it is too fast, sometimes the ink will be broken, which is obviously not what we expect!
3. Ink Dots
The highest printing definition of the DX5 can reach 1440dpi, the inkjet precision is high, the color is bright, the ink dot is small, and the fineness is high. The ink dot of the DX7 is slightly larger, and the fineness is not as good as that of the DX5, but the color saturation is better than that of the DX5.
In fact, the difference between the DX5 printhead and the DX7 printhead is not very obvious. As long as the overall performance of the machine is stable, the print head can play a good role, if the performance of the machine is not good, even if the print head is good, it can not spray a good printing effect, and it is easy to damage the printhead. So the overall choice of machines is also an important thing!
