Dimatix Samba G5L Print Head Used for Roll-to-Roll Corrugated Paper Printing

Dimatix Samba Printhead Technology

FUJIFILM Dimatix, the world’s leading supplier of on-demand inkjet printhead products for industrial applications, is driving continuous advancements in inkjet technology to support a new generation of products for printing production, industrial product decoration and material deposition. The company’s innovative inkjet technology and world-class manufacturing capabilities have enabled many Oems, as well as system integration developers and manufacturers, to develop cutting-edge systems and manufacturing processes for high-performance precision printing of traditional inks and for functional liquid deposition on all types of surfaces, including flexible substrates.

FUJIFILM Dimatix Corporation is a subsidiary of FUJIFILM Corporation, which acquired Dimatix, Inc., an American manufacturer of industrial inkjet printer heads, in July 2006. FUJIFILM Dimatix, a future wholly-owned subsidiary, is headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA, with research and development and manufacturing concentrated in Santa Clara, California and New Hampshire. The company sells its products and provides after-sales service through its subsidiaries in various parts of the world, including the Americas, Europe, Japan, Korea, Mainland China and Taiwan, and Singapore. The Samba printhead from FUJIFILM Dimatix features 2,048 individually addressable nozzles with a raw resolution of 1200 dpi (600 dpi in redundant mode) and an original ink droplet size of 2.4 microliters (pl), providing excellent print quality and spraying a wide range of fluids. Includes UV curable and water-based inks. Scalability is key to Samba technology, with a single-head print width of 43 mm (1.7 inches) that can be easily configured to make print strips of any width, making it ideal for printing applications such as high-quality commercial printing, labeling, packaging, and textiles. The Samba nozzle plate features a unique parallelogram design that enables simplified stitching, resulting in a very narrow 1200 dpi print rod.

The speed, precision, and scalability of the Samba platform sets a new standard for single-channel printer design, providing significantly expanded capabilities that system developers need to meet the requirements of high-speed, wide-format, and high image quality printing. Through continuous ink recirculation behind the nozzle and several innovations, including nozzle plate design, dedicated nozzle plate geometry, and customized waveforms for specific fluids (called RediJet?) This process unleashes the full production potential of Samba prinheads. RediJet can print print heads quickly and easily, thereby reducing printing time, reducing ink waste and improving reliability. FUJIFILM Dimatix Breakthrough VersaDrop? Jet technology allows for multiple fixed droplet sizes in binary mode and grayscale functionality on a single print head without reducing productivity. In binary mode of operation, the Samba prinhead is designed to spray adjustable droplet sizes from 2.4 to 13.2 PI liter down, and can support user-controlled gray levels defined by the electronics.

Dimatix Samba G5L Print Head

The DIMATIX Samba®G5L printhead utilizes advanced silicon microelectromechanical system manufacturing (SI-MEMS) and has a unique parallelogram design on the nozzle plate, which simplifies the splicing of the printhead and can be integrated with a production environment.

DIMATIX Samba®G5L also provides a large droplet size of 30%-45% (3.5-13pL), with a print accuracy of 1,200×1,200 or 1200×600 dpi to provide higher coverage and produce colorful prints.

The DIMATIX Samba®G5L print head with a width of 43mm (1.7 inches) can be configured to produce compact print strips of any width to suit various printing applications. Its wide fluid compatibility and the broad ink range brought by the strong non-wetting coating on the nozzle plate provide powerful features for inkjet printing and material deposition.

For single-pass optimization, DIMATIX Samba G5L provides fast bottoming, higher isolation capacity (max 4 mm without air assist, 5 mm with air assist) and reduces the maintenance cycle of multi-stage ink recirculation to achieve Extreme downtime.

The DIMATIX Samba®G5L print head is currently used in roll-to-roll corrugated digital printing presses, which can achieve linear speeds of up to 300 m/min while maintaining saleable print quality.
