What should I do if the inkjet printer nozzle

The core component of the inkjet printer is the inkjet printhead, which is what we often call the nozzle. Long-term shelf printers will cause blockage, improper operation will cause blockage, and poor use of ink quality will cause plug! If it is not repaired in time, it will not only affect the production schedule but also cause permanent blockages, making the printer scrapped. If you change the sprinkler, then the cost can be high! Therefore, it is particularly important to learn a “real skill”. Daily maintenance to reduce blockages; In the face of unexpected situations, it is easy to deal with!

 

The construction of the inkjet printer nozzle

The common nozzle structure of inkjet printers mainly includes two ways: inkjet head and ink cartridge integrated machine and separate type. After the ink cartridge is exhausted, the ink head and the ink cartridge should be replaced together, so that the mechanism is relatively tightly combined, the reliability is higher, but the relative cost is higher.

The ink head and ink cartridge of the separated structure are separated, and the ink cartridge can be replaced separately after the ink is exhausted, which can save costs to a certain extent. At present, most of the printers commonly used on the market (such as EPSON, HP, etc.) use a dual ink head structure: a black ink head and a color ink head. In the ink cartridge, most of them are black ink independent, other three-color ink cartridges are integrated, and there are also some products where the ink cartridge of each color is independent and can be replaced separately, further reducing the printing cost.

 

The “culprit” that causes the phenomenon of inkjet printer plugging

Due to the improper sealing or long-term placement of the printhead after the normal printing return, the moisture is excessively evaporated, resulting in the dry knot of the ink particles in the fine tip of the print head, so that the ink cannot be sprayed normally; Or different inks are mixed to produce chemical reactions, which are usually manifested as often broken lines, missing colors, blurred handwriting, and even inability to print normally.

 

 

Inkjet printer plugging phenomenon classification & solution

It can be roughly divided into two categories: soft plug and hard plug.

1. Repair of soft plugs

(1)Soft plug plugging refers to the disconnection failure caused by the viscosity of the ink on the nozzle for various reasons. Sometimes only attached to the surface of the ink outlet nozzle, generally dipped in the original ink can be restored after multiple cleanings. It is a bit simple and fast to operate, without any physical damage; The disadvantage is that the cost of use is high and the ink is wasteful.

(2)Use the printer driver’s utility in the printhead cleaning function to clean; Its advantages are simple, convenient, and fast operation; The disadvantage is that the cleaning effect is not ideal.

Notes:

(1)The above two methods should generally not be more than three times. When the printer “plug” is not serious, it should be flushed three times; If it cannot be flushed three times, it means that the plug is more serious, the number of cleanings may not necessarily work, and it is unnecessary to waste a lot of expensive ink, at this time, it should be further processed according to the specific situation;

(2)Because the ink cartridge (such as sponge body filling type) and the print head will produce an “air resistance” phenomenon, there will be a small number of irregular disconnections, at this time there is no need to repeatedly clean, after some time, re-boot can be used normally;

(3)Do not mix ink. New ink should not be rushed to add ink cartridges, first, use a clean disposable syringe to inhale some ink in a bright place to carefully observe, and see if there are suspended solids in the ink, if there is suspended matter, it can not be mixed. Then inhale a little ink from the ink cartridge used and mix the newly purchased ink and then let it stand for 24 hours and then observe to see if there is a chemical reaction in the mixed ink, if there is a change (such as crystallization, etc.), it means that the compatibility of the two inks is not good, remember to mix.

2. Repair of hard plugs

Hard plug refers to the plug caused by chemical coagulants or impurities in the nozzle, the troubleshooting method for this fault is more difficult, at this time, the following four methods can be used to solve it.

(1)Soaking method

Scope of application: the obstruction is light

Essential tools: 95% alcohol, a clean mouth cup, and a flat metal container on the bottom;

Working principle: Dissolve the ink particles one by one with a medium-strength organic solvent, paying attention to the use of a 95% concentration of organic solvent alcohol, otherwise it will be counterproductive.

Solution: First find a metal container with a flat bottom surface, add a little 95% organic solvent alcohol to the container, and the alcohol is limited to just covering the stainless steel hemming of the print head (be careful not to let the PCB board contact alcohol). The soaking time generally varies from 2 hours to 4 days. Its advantage is that the cleaning effect is good and it is not easy to cause physical damage to the print head; The disadvantage is that it takes a long time and is difficult to solve the urgent needs of users.

(2)Pressure cleaning method

Scope of application: the obstruction is heavy

Essential tools: 95% alcohol, a clean mouth cup, a disposable syringe, and a disposable infusion set.

Working principle: Using the pressure generated by the siphon action of the syringe, the organic solvent of alcohol is injected into the print head, to achieve the effect of cleaning the dried ink head.

Workaround:

Use a plastic tube or needle part of a disposable infusion device to make the interface between the syringe and the ink supply port of the print head (the binding part must be tight), after the interface is made, the print head is placed in a concentration of 95% organic solvent alcohol, and the alcohol is inhaled through the print head (note that it can only be inhaled) the syringe needle tube, inhaled several times. Its advantage is that the cleaning effect is good.

Printheads that are generally heavily blocked can be cleaned by this method. It is worth noting that the inhalation of alcohol is to be used evenly, and continuously, and generally does not cause physical damage. Only when making the interface needs to be handmade according to the actual situation, so it is necessary to have professional maintenance technicians to cooperate, have a certain hands-on ability to repair, and make good tools to ensure long-term use.

(3)Distilled water cleaning method

Scope of application: Serious obstruction

Essential tools: a decoded empty cartridge, a disposable syringe, and a bottle of medically distilled water (also available instead of purified water).

Working principle: Similar to the working principle of the pressure cleaning method.

Workaround:

First prepare a decoded empty ink cartridge, a disposable syringe, and a bottle of medical distilled water, use the pressure generated by the siphon action of the syringe, suck the distilled water into the cartridge through the ventilation hole of the cartridge, and then suck out the injected distilled water with the syringe after a while, so that the remaining ink in the cartridge can be cleaned many times.

(4)Ultrasonic instrument cleaning method

Scope of application: the most serious obstruction

Working principle: the use of an ultrasonic cleaning machine to produce a strong ultrasonic wave, so that the water molecules shake violently, and the fine dry ink particles are crushed and dissolved in water, to achieve the purpose of cleaning.

Workaround:

Gently put the inkjet printhead into the washing machine, and add pure water or special printhead cleaning liquid, pure water or special printhead cleaning liquid is limited to just covering the stainless steel edge of the printhead (be careful not to let the PCB board contact pure water or special cleaning liquid), and it can be quickly cleaned after 10 to 15 hours. Its advantage is that the cleaning effect is very ideal, the print head that has been blocked for many years can be cleaned, and the operation is also very simple; The disadvantage is that the maintenance cost is higher and the price is more expensive.

In general, ultrasonic cleaners can be found in eyewear stores or mobile phone repair points, and can also be modified with ultrasonic humidifiers. It is worth noting that the use of cleaning liquid must use pure water or special print head cleaning liquid, can not use the hospital, glasses store or mobile phone special maintenance point cleaning liquid, hospital, mobile phone special maintenance point cleaning liquid is generally a strong organic solvent, frequent use will cause difficult to repair the fatal injury to the inkjet print head.
